Birds of the Orono Crown Lands Article, checklist and photos by Jim Richards In 2008, I researched and published a preliminary checklist of the birds of the Orono Crown Lands based on many years of casual observations there. At that time, I listed 209 species as being reliably recorded and of those, a full 80 species are known to breed there. I am not aware of any additional species to be added to the list, or any new breeders as of December 2011. Once again, I wish to convey my thanks to the following sponsors for making this publication available in hard copy (available at the Orono Weekly Times): Durham Land Stewardship Council, Ontario Power Generation, Armstrong IGA (Foodland) and Bragg’s Wild Bird Seed. |
